Thank you teachers for your sacrifices

Boston Munro, Senior Writer

This Thanksgiving, I am thankful for the wonderful teachers at Liberty who put their students first.  All teachers I’ve ever had at Liberty are passionate about their subject, and do their best to enlighten their students on the material.  There are a select few however, who go the extra mile and make it evident that they prioritize their students above self-interests.  It must first be noted that teachers receive no over-time pay for the extra work they put in.  Despite this, several of them make the decision to stay-after to fulfill the wants of their needy students.  Whether it is to answer questions about their subject, staying after to let us take tests and quizzes we missed, or even doing something colossal, such as guiding us through college essays, teachers put a lot of extra work in.  Though many of these acts, done out of the kindness of these individuals hearts often go unnoticed, I hope they can be comforted by the fact that many of the students who take advantage of your after school availability appreciate it greatly.  Unlike my beliefs as a young child, I now know that teachers don’t live at school and they do in fact have a life outside of the classroom.  I am sure that there are a lot of things they could be doing other than serving us snot-nosed teenagers demanding for their time.    So this Thanksgiving, be sure to take the time to thank you LHS teachers, for making the sacrifice of their precious time to go beyond the obligations of the classroom.   Our future and path to success in life is shaped by these individuals who often give up their entire afternoon and evening for our cause.  It is my wish that all teachers should know that the extra-time they put in, is time well spent.
