Until this year I had never set a foot into the unexplored reaches of the career center. In the past, I always questioned the purpose of a career center. Sure we are looking for colleges, but careers? But in fact, it is a valuable resource that not only is helpful for students preparing for college, but for every student at liberty.
Practically every lunch, representatives from various colleges come and visit Liberty searching for potential students. They are willing to talk to groups or even one on one in order to answer questions about their college.
The book shelves are treasure troves, stocked full of books about colleges, majors, jobs and scholarships that even the underclassmen should take advantage of. You can also find a lot of information and prep books for the SAT and the ACT.
Mrs. Co and Mrs. Nystrom themselves are wonderful assets for the curious student. They are willing to take the time to read over stacks college essays, and also write letters of recommendations for colleges.
There is even something for those seeking a calm oasis in the tumultuous sea of Liberty chaos. The tables and chairs make it a great place to come and hang out during lunch and waivers to get away from the general roar of the commons. There squishy chairs and even a blanket if you are in need of a nap.
Everyone should take advantage of the career center. Not only is it a fabulous hub of information pertaining to college research, application and jobs, but it is a warm and inviting environment to study and talk to friends.
