The outstanding leadership of Honor Society’s “El Presidente”

Emily Allard, Backpage Editor

It’s early spring, 2021. I stand anxiously outside of Darnell’s portable about to meet my fellow officers for the first time. As one of two sophomores on the board, I felt inferior; uncertain. And then, there he was. Suddenly I felt welcomed. Suddenly I had a friend.

Senior Ryan Reamy is this year’s Honor Society president. In other words, Reamy is the foundation of Honor Society at Liberty. He never lets us down. He comes up with meeting activities every single month, and he’s always ready to adapt to things like the weather or how much space we’ll have. On top of this, he never fails to communicate clearly with all of the officers. He always tells us the plan ahead of time and reminds us what we should be focusing on each month.

Reamy truly has a way of keeping all of his fellow officers organized. He has very cleverly divided us into different committees so that our work is split into distinct responsibilities for each officer. This has been a great way to ensure that all of us have a part to play without any of us being too overwhelmed.

What I am most in awe of is how Reamy has adapted to all of the adversities this year. Stepping into his role after a virtual year has only made him stronger. Our induction ceremony was pushed back a month, causing us to rethink our schedule a bit, but Reamy adjusted quickly and calmly.

I am thankful for so many of the things Reamy does for us. I am thankful for the way he listens and considers everybody’s opinions. I am thankful every single time he yells at the top of his lungs to get everybody’s attention to save the rest of us from losing our voices.

Most of all, I am thankful for the example he is setting. Reamy is truly a role model for me and so many others. He’s an amazing leader who is patient, encouraging, kind-hearted, and considerate.

Reamy is someone who makes everyone feel welcome. Someone who can face any challenge that’s thrown at him. Someone who’s going to go on to do great things. That’s MY kind of El Presidente.
