Question: What are you most looking forward to at the ball?

Cinderella

I’m not sure if I’ll even be able to go! I’ll have to finish my chores, and even then, it’s a big “if.” However, if I am able to attend I’d really like to meet the prince and make some changes. I want to talk about what’s going wrong in the kingdom and all the things that he hasn’t been seeing behind the scenes. And I guess if we can meet and fall in love that would be cool too.

Charlotte

I’m most looking forward to meeting the Prince. I know that as soon as he sees me, he’s gonna fall in love with me because who wouldn’t? The sooner I meet the prince, the sooner I can become a princess.

Prince Topher

Lots of pretty girls. Oh my god, that’s embarrassing. Y’know dancing—I mean it’s Sebastion’s, my advisor, idea. He takes care of a lot of stuff and has my best interest in mind, so I’m just going along with him.

Madene

I am looking forward to my daughter Gabrielle marrying the Prince, of course! Charlotte wants to marry the prince, and she’s a lovely, courageous child, but to be completely frank with you, I believe Charlotte is much too headstrong to be a princess.

Question: What is your opinion of the prince?

Cinderella

He seems like a good person; he seems very nice—which surprised me, given that he is a prince, someone in power and all.

Townsperson

I think he’s very handsome. He’s tall, slender, and beautiful. I see him walking around the town all the time in his carriage, and I just wish that I was there with him.

Jean Michel

The prince is treating us unfairly. He’s taking away our land and our property without cause. A bad guy.

Question: Are there any rumors floating around town?

Cinderella

A lot of poor people are losing their homes, but the prince is not doing a single thing about it.

Charlotte

Obviously, the ball is a big thing. One of my stepsisters Cinderella wants to go, but she’s not going to go because she’s poor and not as pretty as me or my sister Gabrielle, of course. Oh! There’s also this weird little French dude that hates rich people or something? He keeps bothering my sister, and I don’t know what he’s doing. It’s kind of stupid.

Madene

Oh, let me tell you about this Mr. Soapbox out there. His name is Jean Michelle and he’s always wandering around my house trying to talk to my precious Gabrielle. He’s ridiculous. Absolutely ridiculous. He has all these revolutionary ideas that he’s trying to plant in my daughter’s head.

Question: What do you think about Cinderella?

Charlotte

Oh, she’s really annoying. I mean, like it’s helpful and she like, cleans my stuff, carries my packages. I like when she does that, but I don’t like it when she talks about her life and stuff.

Prince Topher

She was something else. I don’t know, I mean she was so pretty, and when she came in, the whole room just kind of stopped. Y’know? I looked up and it was like love at first sight.

Madene

Well, let’s get one thing straight. Cinderella is not my daughter. She’s my stepdaughter, and she won’t stop complaining. She should be grateful for all the kindness I’ve shown her.

Fairy Godmother

She’s the only one that’s shown me kindness. So, I give her the best treatment I can.

Question: Describe the play in a sentence or less

Cinderella

A love story with a side of democracy.

Charlotte

The play is fun! There’s not enough me in it, and I think it should be called “Charlotte” not “Cinderella”, but I would recommend it.

Prince Topher

Two kids, who don’t know who they are, find their way

Townsperson

This random city girl who’s not good enough for the prince somehow manages to get the prince to fall in love with her for some stupid reason
