“It’s been the strongest team top to bottom in a long time. We did well in season play and especially well in postseason play,” senior captain Sarah Stucky said.
Liberty girls tennis recently ended their season with an appearance made by senior Luciana Sobrino and freshman Katy Nguyen at State. Both players made it in the singles tournament and Sobrino succeeded in taking home third place after winning 3 out of 4 matches.
“It was kind of sad because it was my last time, but I got the same place that I got freshman year,” Sobrino said. Overall Liberty’s team finished their season with a 7-8 record and are proud of both their individual and team accomplishments. Although they are losing a significant number of seniors as well as a few of this year’s underclassmen, including Nguyen, who is moving to Newport High School, they are looking forward for next year’s season.
“Hopefully a lot of girls will try out for the team,” Stucky said. “I think that there are a lot of good players and a lot of good leadership on the team.”
