Sleighing the gift-giving game

‘Tis the season to be jolly and spread the holiday spirit with your friends and family! As we approach winter, a time to show appreciation, you must be wondering, “What should I get them?” There are always classic gifts: candles, socks, gift cards, and treats that we gravitate to, but which ones jingle bell rock?
  • 1. Homemade treats
    • The abundance of homemade treats is a wholesome part of the holiday season. It’s so nice to think someone put in the effort to make something for you, and there’s no need to worry about the taste because, with enough sugar, all problems can be solved.
  • 2. Snacks
    • If you’re looking for an easier alternative to personally-made goodies, snacks are also decent. Everyone has their favorites, and it’s thoughtful when people know your preferences or simply ask.
  • 3. Candles
    • Candles are a given. Many say they’re too basic, but their light brightens up the dark season. As long as it’s not a potently artificial Bath and Body Works candle called Caramel Vanilla Bean Snowflake Marshmallow Cookie Noel, then I will gladly strike a match and indulge in the scent.
  •  4. Socks
    • Socks, I think, are actually too basic. I know they’re warm and cozy, but you can give them to literally anyone because they likely have feet. I put socks on my wish list as a filler, but I don’t necessarily need or want them.
  • 5. Gift cards/money
    • Half the fun of presents is tearing the wrapping paper, but gift cards and money sadly deprive us of that joy. It could be thoughtful when people give you gift cards for things you like, and I know they’re convenient, but I personally don’t care for them.
