Is the Hype House show worth the hype?

Do you remember when they first announced that the Hype House would be getting its own show? Me too, and I was absolutely furious—livid even. I thought to myself that the day when pigs fly is the day that I will admit that it was entertaining. Unfortunately, that day, pigs did fly. I succumbed to watching it in the early morning hours of 4 a.m. And what was it that converted me into enjoying it? It was about rich kids living in California and their abnormal lives.

The show had everything from drama, an insight into their lives, and even managed to help me understand some of the people and change my opinions on them. Take, for instance, Nikita Dragun. Often known as a controversial beauty guru, she stepped up, lending advice when needed, helped others break out of their comfort zone, and kept the house together when times got tough. Vinnie Hacker (the only reason the Hype House is relevant) shared his discomfort with being oversexualized and fans crossing the line when it came to his personal life. It also showed members dealing with trauma and personal issues that brought light to the human side to them.

With that being said, the show had moments where it left me flabbergasted, shocked, and enraged. Mia, the irrelevant girlfriend of the co-founder of Hype House, never failed to make me infuriated with the way she argued with everyone and constantly complained about the others. Next, they argued and created drama because they could not film eight Bang Energy videos a month to keep the house running. Honestly, how difficult can that be? Let’s not forget Alex calling his girlfriend Kouvr delusional and spending tens of thousands of dollars to film YouTube videos.

Overall, with the way I was hooked onto every episode, “Hype House” is worth the hype, and perfect for instant entertainment, but don’t get me wrong: it is nowhere near my list of the best shows to exist.
