Teen Beach Movie
Synopsis: Surfers Brady and McKenzie’s summers are coming to an end, but not without one last thrill. One day, a wave crashes them onto the sunny beach of the classic ‘60s movie, “Wet Side Story”! Antics ensue as they accidentally change the way the movie goes – for better or for worse.
Review: “Teen Beach Movie” is a surprisingly good commentary of cliche, mainstream teen movies. The whole thing is them just making fun of themselves in a cute way that kids can enjoy, but later internalize. The soundtrack is going to do it for me everytime, and the ending song is seriously underrated. Plans this summer: defeat an evil scientist by dancing at him.
Kings of the Summer
Synopsis: It’s the start of summer, and three teenage boys are feeling frustrated with their life. So, they decide to move into the woods. Through friendship, girls, and snake bites, these boys prove to themselves – and their parents – that they can take control of their life.
Review: If you want a nostalgic coming-of-age film that will have you longing for adventure, then this is the movie for you. Every character is charmingly unique and a type of funny that you could only find in a movie like this. You might be surprised about how much changes in these boys’ lives in one summer, but isn’t that what adolescence is all about? True friendship is found deep in the woods.
The Parent Trap
Synopsis: Identical twins Annie and Hallie are separated at birth, only reuniting at summer camp when they’re 11 years old. The twins decide to identity-swap, one going to England and the other to California, to try and get their parents back together again.
Review: This movie is perfect to put on for family movie night. It’s cozy, it’s fun, and it’s chaotic, which describes summers for most. Even if they didn’t look alike, I would still know the twins are related because they share some sort of smart gene that no one can compare with. If my long lost British twin is reading this, let’s go to summer camp!
