Mrs. Gillingham:
Lora Gillingham started working as a librarian here at Liberty in 2022. She decided to work at Liberty because she “really wanted to work in a school that was in my community.”
“One of the most rewarding things about working at Liberty is that I get to be a teacher that cares and listens to students because that is something I remember having a hard time with when I was a teen,” Gillingham said.
Though she will miss the students and staff here at Liberty she is also looking forward to many things when she retires.
“I am looking forward to being able to spend more time with Mr. Gillingham because we have so much fun together. I also am excited to go on big trips with my friends, like to Italy and Spain,” Gillingham said.
She is also happy to be able to have no alarm clock, have lazy days at home and enjoy everyday being a Saturday.
“I have enjoyed my time here and I would like to thank all the staff and students for making me feel so welcome,” Gillingham said.
Ms. Schneider:
Eleonor Schneider is a science teacher here at Liberty and began to teach here in 2012 when her son was also attending this school as a freshman.
“I have taught AP Chemistry, General Physics, Chemistry, and Physics Lab Methods,” Schneider said.
She has really enjoyed working here and when asked what she compares Liberty to Schneider said,”It’s like skipping through a green meadow on a sunny day surrounded by rainbows and unicorns!”
She loves the Liberty community, she believes that this school has made a welcoming and kind environment for people, making it her favorite part of teaching here.
Some words of wisdom that she wants to leave her students with is“always be aware of the world around you! SEE the people, appreciate the beauty, marvel at how nature works,” Schneider said.
Ms. Leake:
Sherry Leake has greatly impacted many people through her many years of teaching when she started working at Liberty High school in the fall of 1997.
“The classes that I’ve taught that we still have are Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Geometry lab, Algebra 2 lab, Guided Study, AP Calculus AB, and College in high school calculus. The courses I’ve taught that Liberty doesn’t offer anymore are SAT Prep, and Collection of Evidence,” Leake said.
Through teaching all these classes she has grown very close to the Liberty community.
“I loved taking my daughter to see the spring musicals. We went to most of them as she was growing up. I enjoyed seeing students outside the classroom and was always impressed with the students’ talent,” Leake said.
Leake states that she will miss everyone at Liberty but will especially miss “seeing Mr. Hall wearing the bunny rabbit suit when he lost the food drive competition to Mrs. Kruzich. That image always makes me laugh. But I will not miss grading papers,” Leake said.
Leake’s experience at Liberty has also helped her live a life that aligns perfectly with her values.
“I always feel that a well-lived life involves giving back to the community. Teaching at Liberty has been like a gift to me, as I have been able to put that value into action by working with students to help them learn. It’s been hard work, but meaningful work,” Leake said
