Paying it forward

Have you ever experienced one of those days where you wake up on the wrong side of the bed, forget your math folder, and the chattering in the hallway suddenly seems ten octaves louder?

I certainly have as I am no stranger to the highs and lows of high school. But when you bump into a friend or even a friendly face in the halls, and they randomly decide to compliment your outfit or personality, something in my heart blooms.

The moody feeling suddenly dissipates as the blood in my veins experiences an overwhelming rush of dopamine. A silly grin lights up my face and refuses to disappear for the rest of the day. I can assure you this is all I will be daydreaming about while my math teacher’s yells fade in the background.

There is nothing better than receiving a compliment or even being the one to give out a compliment. Everybody needs a little bit of positivity whether they look like they need it or not. So by saying something kind, you could potentially be putting a smile on someone’s face. All because of a random act of kindness.

Even witnessing kindness can brighten up the surrounding spirits and slowly restore our faith in humanity. This culture of appreciation and kindness has such a powerful effect by making others feel valued and releasing much-needed happiness into our atmosphere. So next time you see someone, anyone, take a leap of courage and be kind. It can create a ripple effect and encourage others to pay it forward.

Thank you to the wonderful people who have never failed to be kind and extraordinary. You are appreciated!
