Desks with hooks: the key to a student’s survival

Backpacks lining the floors, a sea of Jansport and North Face and Lands End creations waiting to take a Liberty student as a victim to drowning. One wrong step in a student’s journey between rows of desks will put them on the ground at the mercy of an unseen backpack in their path.

Backpacks cause no harm when on a student’s back, except for the occasional slam to the arm that all students are familiar with receiving in the hallway. One second, a peer is simply turning around too fast in the hallway, and the next their backpack is lunging for others as it swings around. But on the ground, backpacks are a different breed, eager to harm all those who dare approach them.

For this reason, I am eternally grateful for the desks at Liberty that have backpack hooks on them. Every time I walk into a classroom and see the two black hooks on the left of the desks, I breathe a sigh of relief, free of the stress of confronting an angry backpack. I can walk to the front of the classroom to pick up a paper or walk to my friend’s desk at the end of class with ease, not even glancing at the ground once on my journey.

Backpacks are a better version of themselves when on a hook, tamed by the gentle rocking effect that results from students accidentally kicking them under the desk. Backpack hooks on desks have made my high school experience exponentially better and have ultimately made my entire life better. Thank you desks with backpack hooks.
