Counselors: our guiding light

College applications—the bane of seniors’ existence. An endless winding road of stress and confusion on which we would be lost without the help and guidance of our wonderful counselors.

Now, I haven’t been lucky enough to meet all of our lovely counselors, so I will be focusing on the one that I have, Ms. Colleen Schiller. Ms. Schiller is brand new to Liberty this year, which immediately worried me as I would have to seek guidance for my future and ask for a recommendation letter from a person I had never met before.

However, my worries faded as Ms. Schiller tackled all of my sources of concern with a heartwarming enthusiasm to get to know each other. Since our first meeting, when she called me in simply to congratulate me on an academic achievement, I’ve never felt anything but completely at ease in her office.

Her willingness to talk about anything and everything has led to many random, tangent conversations that made our meetings feel casual and comfortable. I’ve always left her office in a good mood, regardless of how I felt when I entered.

It’s nice to know that whether I need help solving a problem or someone to celebrate my victories with, she’s in my corner. I am very thankful for all you do, Ms. Schiller. Thank you for making college applications seem not so terrible.
