A look into season three sports
June 11, 2021
Mackenzie Cung (9) – Tennis
Q: As a freshman, do you think you missed out on anything, especially since your season was cut short?
A: Overall, I would say no. I do not feel that I have missed out on anything regarding the tennis season. As long as I get to practice with the team and play in matches, it is all I could ever ask for! I am very grateful for being on the team and having the opportunity to compete against other schools.
Q: How has your season been so far?
A: Despite the season being only three weeks, I have had a great experience with the team! The team is absolutely amazing, the coaches are great, and I am learning a lot while having fun!
Q: As a team, how have you guys been doing?
A: This year is definitely much different compared to previous years, but regardless of our given circumstances, we still find a way to enjoy tennis in a safe manner. Personally, I think that the team just clicks well with each other. We always have a fun time playing together.
Gabi Parrish (12) – Track
Q: How has this season compared to previous years of track?
A: It’s been pretty similar to past years. Except everything is going a lot faster, especially since there was a season two and season three sports overlap, so a bunch of people missed a week of practice. Like for me, my first match was after two days of practice. So we jumped right into practice, and we have been working really hard to get back to how we performed two years ago.
Q: As a team, how have you guys been doing?
A: The track environment is always super welcoming, and we bonded as a team over the sport despite the short season. I am also able to meet new people, which has been very fun.
Q: As a senior, were you disappointed with how the season turned out?
A: It was disappointing not getting a season last year, and I wish I could do postseason this year. As a senior, this was supposed to be my best year, and it’s frustrating not being able to be my best. But overall, I am thankful that we got a season at all because it has made this year so much better, and I am going to miss it next year.
Kylie McGrath (9) – Golf
Q: As a freshman, do you think you missed out on anything, especially since your season was cut short?
A: Definitely, especially since Covid-19 canceled state this year, which I would’ve liked to participate in during my first year of high school. But, I am thankful that I was able to have a season!
Q: How has your season been so far?
A: Honestly, this season has been very chaotic, and a lot of the time, I don’t really know what is going on, but I still enjoyed playing golf with my teammates.
Q: How do you feel your season has been impacted by Covid-19?
A: This season was completely different than what I expected. I feel like Covid-19 made everything very confusing for a lot of people, especially since we were booking matches in the middle of our season.
Q: As a team, how have you guys been doing?
A: This year made it difficult for me to connect with my other teammates, despite the large number of golf participants this year.
