Boys gold sends six to distracts next spring

This season Liberty boys golf will be sending six athletes to the district tournament next spring. This comes in spite of losing four important seniors this year. The team has continued to do well finishing fifth in the district.

“We lost a lot of key seniors from last year, and so we needed kids to step into those positions and at times they did and at times we struggled a little bit,” coach John Kinsley said.

The team’s struggle to achieve a 4-5 season is evident when compared to their state championship the past two years.

Some players that have stepped up to fill the void left by the seniors include senior Cole Sherman, sophomore Jack Hultquist, and freshman Parker Nolan. The team was once again led by senior and team captain Chase Mcintosh.

“It’s been tough, they were some key contributors to the team, but i think we still have a good chance at state this year,” Chase Mcintosh said.

Mcintosh, who has been on the state winning team both years, has once again been leading Liberty’s boys golf team both as captain and competitor. He hopes to lead the team back to the state championship again.
