The women’s cross country team has high hopes of succeeding at state this year. A strong freshman turnout and a team of sturdy veterans are highlights of the varsity team.
The women’s team is still undefeated this season, even after competing in four dual meets and against rivals Mercer Island and Bellevue.
Freshman Brigette Takeuchi and junior Sarah Bliesner lead the women’s side, with Takeuchi and Bliesner consistently placing in the top seven in many of their races. Honorable mentions go to junior Carlyn Schmidgall and freshman Kelsey Takeuchi.
The women’s team is ranked 3rd in state. “I really think we as a team could stand on the state podium this year,” Bliesner said.
The team has also performed exceptionally at invintational meets, meets outside of KingCo, with finishes of first at the Sun Fair and fifth at Fort Steilacoom. They also finished third at Hole in the Wall.
