Success in class starts with your attendance, your motivation, and the teachers’ decorations in the classroom. Yes, the decorations in a classroom play a pivotal part in a student’s academic performance. If you are a teacher reading this and you lack classroom decor, let me persuade you with my opinion to bedazzle your room and excite your students.
As students, we need motivators throughout the day. We spend a good amount of time in the building of Liberty High School, so it should be expected that the classrooms are prepared for our arrival each day. A prepared classroom looks like a decorated classroom.
Posters are a good place to start when decorating a classroom. Some posters that improve classrooms are movie posters, landscapes, images of the city and photos of outer space. Hanging up posters relating to the subject of the course can be good unless it is over done. If there are too many posters on the wall about math equations or grammar it feels uninspiring.
Classroom decor should reflect part of the teacher’s personality and what they think would make a welcoming environment for the students. We already get enough knowledge from the actual learning, so we don’t need to have more in the decor.
Posters are just one of the many ways a classroom can be decorated. Hanging things from the ceiling such as disco balls, paper chains, snowflakes, and lanterns is another way to improve the environment of a classroom.
The best way to decorate a classroom is to have cozy items such as rugs, throw pillows, lamps, and blankets. Having the opportunity to learn in a space that feels safe and cozy makes learning fun. If you’re worried about students falling asleep because of the cozy atmosphere, you should also consider having laser lights in your room to wake up the students and give the illusion that they are at a club instead of school.
A comfortable classroom makes learning easier, and it all starts with how the room is arranged. Why is it that so many people use pastel highlighters and cute pens? Because it’s a motivator. The same idea goes for a classroom, so stop waiting and start decorating.
