It’s actually a rain garden

Remember the swampy mess outside of the English wing that once resembled an abandoned rice paddy? The area is actually Liberty’s new rain garden, and is quickly reaching completion. A permeable path of rocks and water-absorbing plants combine to create one of Liberty’s newest sustainable features. “It’s important to appreciate the new sustainable additions to our school, and the rain garden is a great, aesthetic way to do that,” Junior James Ricks said. The garden is designed to maximize the amount of water that is absorbed back into the soil underneath the school, and is a perfect addition to our rainy climate.
