Discovering the wheel

Discovering+the+wheel

On Monday, January 12, with only four days left in the course, the Ceramics 1 class practiced using the ceramics wheels for the first time. After watching a demonstration by Ceramics teacher Rex Fraser, students were paired up and let loose to figure out how to throw clay on the wheel. While Ceramics 1 usually practices with the wheels for only a day or two, Ceramics 2 students are able to spend more time on the wheel, with the option of hand-creating or throwing clay on the wheel to form projects. “Ceramics has been a really enjoyable class,” junior Gillian Archibald said. “The projects have been interesting to make and although the wheel was difficult to learn at first, it was also really fun. I would recommend for people to take the class.”
