Bundle up and Visit 2024 Winter Events

This winter, several organizations in northwestern Washington are throwing a variety of spectacular winter events ranging from now until early January. These events feature light spectacles, community gatherings, and other various activities. Here are some of the events that Liberty students can attend.

Garden d’Lights:

This production displays the Bellevue Botanical Gardens in a whirlwind of half-a-million colorful lights crafted into flowers, animals, and more!

“I like to see the wonder in children’s eyes when they see the lights for the first time,” Communications Manager Darcy McInnis said. 

  • When? 11.30-12.31.24, 4:30 PM-9:00 PM
  • Where? 12001 Main Street, Bellevue, WA
  • How Much? Ages 11+ cost $8.00 per person, under 10 is free!

 

WildLanterns at Woodland Park Zoo:

This event showcases the zoo’s exhibits when surrounded by 1,054 lanterns and 800,000 colorful lights that recreate the animals shown!

“It truly is a fairytale come to life with a larger-than-life, immersive experience which all ages are bedazzled,” Senior Manager Gigi Allianic said.

 

Winterfest at the Seattle Center:

Winterfest is full of festive activities for all ages, including a double decker carousel, a fairytale forest, and much more. Winterfest also includes live performances, such as the Seattle Children’s Theater’s ‘The Snow Queen’.

“Their productions are surprisingly high quality, and I think that people who aren’t children would enjoy some of their shows,”  senior Jocelyn Hood said.  

 

Holiday Magic at WA State Fair:

The fair is hosting a variety of holiday themed events including, Santa’s Express Train, a Wonder Wheel, ice skating, a holiday market, and a Gnome Scavenger Hunt. Some additional festivities are the gingerbread lane, extreme tree lighting,  a light tunnel, and a singing christmas tree. 

“This is a great community event that celebrates the season. There are experiences and activities for all ages, for families, friends and for date night,” Public Relations Manager Stacy Van Horne said.
