The pros and cons of Zoom

Daniel Flash, Backpage Editor

We’ve been on Zoom now for a month and we have noticed many pros and cons of zoom. For example, we all can agree that breakout rooms are a con.

PROS:

  1. You could be taking a shower during class and your teacher would not know.
  2. When the teacher gets kicked from the call and a student in your class starts screen-sharing an episode of the Office.
  3. If the teacher forgets to start the meeting after 15 minutes, you can legally leave.

CONS:

Even though there are good things about Zoom, there is one thing that everyone absolutely hates: breakout rooms.

  1. If you aren’t friends with the other people in the breakout room, you all just awkwardly look at each other while occasionally glancing down at your phone to text someone about how you’re in an awkward breakout room.
  2. Cameras. Imagine this: You’re the only person with your camera on in a group of four people.  There are three people watching you, but you don’t know for sure. To anyone in that situation, just turn your camera off.
  3. If you’re in a room with one other person, there’s really nothing you can do. I just wish you the best of luck.
