Sophomore golfer Ben Graham received the 2A Athlete of the Week award for the week of September 7-13. The award was given to Graham because of his impressive academic standings and scoring six under par and dropping ten birdies in three matches. The award included a certificate from the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association, a t-shirt, and a letter of recognition from the executive director of the WIAA.

“Ben is a natural leader and is very helpful with his teammates,” head coach John Kinsley said. “Most importantly, as good as a golfer as Ben is, it doesn’t compare to the kind of kid he is. Ben’s a top notch person first and foremost.”

Graham’s contribution has helped the golf team in their recent league match against Bellevue. The Patriots won by two points, an achievement they have been unable to reach for several years.

“Everyone has improved and we have a lot more players, which will definitely help us compete at State and Districts this year,” Ben Graham said.

Recent accomplishments of the golf team include winning 186-191 against Mercer Island on October 9 and 185-193 to Lake Washington on October 6.
