If the Liberty baseball team’s win against school rival Hazen is any indication on how the season will turn out, the season looks to be very successful this year. The Liberty baseball team is planning on improving on their last year’s season record. The team is now led by senior captains Lorin Archibald and Chase Vanneck along with junior captain Eddie Delgado.

The team finished last year’s season with a record of three wins and 20 losses. The team has a current record of 2-7 and 0-5 in league play. The captains believe that with a more positive attitude, the team will be able to have a better, more successful season this year.

Archibald’s team goals include becoming closer as a team because with the teams overall goal to win more games that is a big part of winning.

“There is more of a will to win throughout the entire team as a whole.” Archibald said.

“And we ten runned Hazen” Archibald said. The team scored ten runs against school rivals at Hazen. With the mercy rule being a ten point lead, the team ended the game after only five innings out of the usual seven. Archibald

had four strikeouts during his only five innings pitched. Junior Daniel Rodriguez brought in three runs batted in contributing to the teams ten point final.

“It was a great feeling! It was our up the road rival and it is always great to beat our school rivals. It was a good win and it showed that we could take ‘em,” Delgado said.
